Former Republican Speaker of the House Dennis Hastert began his prison sentence today, a prison sentence he is serving for being found guilty of breaking banking laws in his attempts to funnel “hush money” to one of the allegedly numerous young men and boys he molested over the decades of being a hypocritical predatory stain on humanity. Hastert’s lawyers tried to argue that the public shaming the child molester received was punishment enough. Texas Republican Tom DeLay wrote a letter to the judge in the case along with 41 other colleagues. They asked for leniency for Hastert because “We all have our flaws.” The judge agreed. We do all have our own flaws, but in Dennis Hastert’s case, his flaws are immoral and criminal and we have a justice system that imprisons people as a punishment, a deterrent, and to keep the rest of society safe from people with those flaws.

Former House speaker Dennis Hastert reported to prison in Minnesota on Wednesday to begin serving a 15-month sentence in a case involving millions in hush money paid to cover up his sexual abuse of teenage students 30 years ago.

Hastert, 74, partially wheeled himself into the Rochester Federal Medical Center complex, which is surrounded by high, razor-wire fencing. A woman followed behind him, carrying crutches.

Hastert suffered a stroke last year and will spend his 15 months in a medical center prison in Minnesota. It could be worse, the judge could have cited Dennis Hastert’s own plea for lifetime prison sentences for child molesters … like serial child molester Dennis Hastert.
