Picture a horizontal bar 10 feet up in the air. Good behavior for Republicans is if they walk UNDER the bar. Republicans say Democrats have behaved well if and only if they jump OVER the bar 10 feet up in the air.
Recall that Bill Clinton consented to receive fellatio from a female subordinate. She asked him, he did not ask her. At law, only intercourse is "having sex". They did not engage in intercourse. When asked if he had had sex with her, Bill Clinton answered they had not. The powers that be said he committed perjury and took away his license to practice law.
In contrast, former wrestling coach Dennis Hastert, the longest serving Republican Speaker of the House, repeatedly anally raped teen aged boys in the shower and in his office. Hastert paid off some victims to keep their silence. He improperly and illegally took funds out of his checking account to make those payoffs. He pleaded guilty to his financial crimes and was incarcerated for over a year.
Republicans say Clinton's honest answer when deposed was far worse than Dennis Hastert's crimes.
